Where were you guys camping? Have you been to the great wall?.
Ave, we were about an hour outside of Beijing near a section of the Wall called Mutianyu. You can see the unrestored sections from where we were...it's not a campground or anything, just a space in the hills with a parking area.
You can climb up to the wall and mess around and hike on it--it's not restored so it's rocky and difficult, but we didn't that day.
